A Phenomenological Study on Women´s Experience of Infertility

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this research is to identify. the meaning and structure of the lived experience of infertility. The investigator conducted a participated observation and ran in-depth unstructured interviews which were audiotape under the permission of a participant. The investigator read the data repeatedly to identify and categorize significant statements, formulating meanings, themes and theme clusters. In this study Colaizzi´s method is used for the phenomenological analysis of the data which were collected from the participant.
The research was conducted over a -period of 3 to 7 June,1996. Six themes of infertility as experienced by this participant were:
1) feeling .of "hope and, dream", about the parenting role
2) "researches into causes of infertility" 3) "sublimation"
4) feeling of "anxiety" about family concern
5) "substitute" pet animal for baby
6) "expectation of future"
